Tally Trails Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies only to the Tally Trails mobile app ("Tally Trails", "the app"), published by Zero to One ("we", "us"). Other Zero to One apps have their own privacy policies.
The short version
- There is no account. Your progress is stored only on your device, and we do not run servers that receive it.
- The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. Google collects device and usage data to show and measure those ads.
- On iPhone, ads are only personalised if you allow tracking. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent first.
- The optional Remove Ads purchase is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
- No analytics SDKs, no contacts, no location permission, and we never sell your data.
1. Data stored on your device
Tally Trails does not have accounts and does not send your game data to us. The app keeps the following on your device only, so your game is there when you come back:
- Levels completed, stars earned, daily puzzle results and streaks.
- Your hint count, boards you have started but not finished, and whether you have seen the tutorial.
- Your settings: haptics, sound, and the daily reminder and its time.
- Whether you own Remove Ads (this is re-checked with the App Store or Google Play each time the app starts).
You can erase your game progress at any time in Settings → Reset progress. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored. Because this data never leaves your device, we cannot see it, restore it, or move it to a new phone for you.
2. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Tally Trails is free because it shows ads: banners, full-screen ads between some levels and when you return to the app, and optional video ads you can choose to watch for an extra hint or undos. These ads are provided byGoogle AdMob. To show ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and prevent fraud, the AdMob software in the app collects and sends to Google:
| Data | Details |
|---|---|
| Device identifiers | The advertising identifier (IDFA on iPhone, only if you allow tracking; the Android advertising ID on Android), and an app-specific identifier used when the advertising identifier is not available |
| Device and network information | IP address, device model, operating system and version, language, and approximate location derived from the IP address |
| Ad interactions | Which ads were shown, whether you tapped them, whether a video was watched to the end |
| Diagnostics | Technical logs about ad loading and performance |
Google uses this data as described inHow Google uses information from sites or apps that use its servicesand the Google Privacy Policy. We only see aggregated reports from Google (such as how many ads were shown), never data about you personally.
Your ad choices
- iPhone: the app asks whether you allow tracking. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", Google does not receive your advertising identifier and ads are not personalised using data from other companies' apps and websites. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: before any ads are requested, the app shows Google's consent form so you can choose whether your data may be used for personalised ads. You can change your choice later in the app underSettings → Privacy options. If you do not consent, you may still see non-personalised ads.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path varies by device).
- Remove Ads: the one-time purchase turns off banners and all full-screen ads you did not ask for. Optional reward videos stay available, and they only play when you choose to watch one.
Ads in Tally Trails are limited to content suitable for teenagers and older (Google's "T" rating).
3. Purchases
Remove Ads is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The store handles the payment and your payment details under its own privacy policy; we never receive them. The app asks the store whether you own Remove Ads so it can turn ads off, including after a reinstall or on a new device signed in to the same store account.
4. Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder in Settings and allow notifications, the app schedules one local notification per day at the time you choose. It is created on your device. We do not collect a push notification token, and you can turn the reminder off in the app or in your phone's settings at any time.
5. Sharing your results
When you tap Share after a puzzle, the app creates an image or text of your result on your device and opens your phone's share sheet. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you pick an app or person to share it with.
6. What we do not collect
- No account, name, email address or phone number.
- No GPS or precise location. The app does not request location permission.
- No contacts, photos, camera or microphone access.
- No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. If you have agreed to share analytics with app developers in your phone's settings, Apple or Google may give us anonymous, aggregated crash and usage statistics.
7. Your rights
Your game data is on your device and under your control: you can view it in the app and delete it with Reset progress or by uninstalling. For data collected by Google for advertising, use the choices in section 2 or Google's tools at My Ad Center.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA) you may have rights to access, delete or object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Where the GDPR applies, personalised advertising is based on your consent, and non-personalised advertising and fraud prevention on our legitimate interest in funding a free app. We do not sell or share your personal information for money. If you have a question or request, email us and we will reply within 30 days.
8. Children
Tally Trails is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child's data has been collected through the app, contact us and we will help.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, for example if we start collecting a new kind of data, we will also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
10. Contact
